During February 2009 we visited the Nord-pas-de-Calais area and recorded SNCF freight services around Douai, Somain and Valenciennes and the High speed passenger LGV Nord line near Arras.
The freight services included in the DVD are of the heavy block freights of inter-modal, iron ore, coal and steel plus long mixed freight, short feeder services and trip workings. All these are powered by electric locomotive types 27000 Primas, 36000 Astride and 26000 Sybics plus 22400. Another type seen is a Belgium railway multi-voltage type 12 which runs through to Somain from Belgium Marshaling yards. Other locomotive types are 66700 and Y8000 diesel shunters plus electric locomotives 16500.
The high speed passenger services are of a variety of TGV types such as TGV Duplex and Reseau plus Thalys and Eurostar. These are seen coupled in multiple or a single unit heading for Paris or Brussels. These services are filmed at full line speed. Approx 50 mins, Pal Format, DVD-R format. all Regions, Standard Definition, Aspect Ratio: 4:3
